Palatine's Shoppe the Mill offers space for local vendors

Shoppe the Mill, 37 W. Slade St., in downtown Palatine, opened its doors in May 2019 with a goal to provide unique and functional home goods and decor inspired by owner Tahnee Panayi's passion for interiors.

Panayi, a longtime Palatine resident, recognizes the community support that helped her business to grow by showcasing versatile collections from local home decor artists.

The store will additionally be featuring pop-ups featuring a handful of locally owned businesses on select Saturdays Nov. 7 through Dec. 5.

"Each of these businesses are women-owned, and I am thrilled to have them join us at 'The Mill,'" Panayi said. "I feel so fortunate to collaborate with them and to carry their unique collections in my store."

Panayi says she founded the business to help inspire people to create beautiful and functional spaces in their homes. With everyone spending more time at home due to the pandemic, many homeowners are looking to add new home goods and decor.

Over the last several months, this has generated growing interest in Shoppe the Mill, and allowed Panayi to continue growing her passion for home decor into a flourishing business.

"When I started Shoppe the Mill, I was looking to bring in more unique pieces to my home and wanted to provide a place for other people to find those things, too," Panayi said.

"Our space in downtown Palatine has been one of growth, creativity, challenges and invaluable experiences."

Shoppe the Mill is known for one-of-a-kind pieces, including three different lines of locally made jewelry. Their inventory appeals to a variety of different styles and tastes, with products including holiday decor, glassware, ceramic mugs and bowls, organic towels, and more.

Upcoming pop-up shops will take place inside Shoppe the Mill and include a collection of every day wear women's clothing from Gathered Boutique (gatheredboutiqueandworkshop.com) and handmade jewelry from Bead Crush on Nov. 7; unique, handmade ceramics from Julie Kittredge Ceramics (juliekittredge.com) on Nov. 14; personalized acrylic ornaments for the holidays from Olea Lettering (olealettering.com) Nov. 28; and luxury women's fashion clothing from Get It Girl (getitgirl.com) Dec. 5.
