Maple Park Village President will not seek re-election

At the Oct. 20 committee of the whole meeting, Maple Park Village President Kathleen Curtis announced that she will not seek re-election in April 2021.

Curtis stated, "Serving Maple Park has been an honor and a blessing; however, it is time for me to redirect my energies to my family."

President Curtis began her tenure with the village when she was sworn in as a Trustee in May 2005 and served as the finance committee chair. In May 2009, she became village president and will have held the office for 12 years when her term expires on April 30, 2021.

The following seats will be on the ballot for the spring 2021 election for the village of Maple Park: three 4-year term trustee vacancies; one 2-year unexpired term vacancy; and 4-year term for village president.

Petition packets became available on the website, villageofmaplepark.org/election-info/, and at the village office, 302 Willow St.

Petitions are due back to the village clerk between Monday, Dec. 14 and Monday, Dec. 21.
