Local chapter celebrates DAR Day of Service

The Daughters of the American Revolution members celebrate the National DAR Day of Service each year on the anniversary of the organization's founding on Oct. 11.

To honor the DAR's founding, members from across the country are encouraged to participate in meaningful service projects in their communities.

The DAR was founded on the principals of service and the members giving back to their communities. DAR members have worked tirelessly to promote historical preservation, patriotism and educating youth.

This year, as DAR celebrates 130 years as an all-women lineage society, the Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter in Libertyville put together 250 bags filled with individually sealed goodies. These goody bags will be distributed to local police and fire departments as a thank you for their service.
