Get help filling out your 2020 Census form at Gail Borden Oct. 14-15

Per a Supreme Court decision to halt and a Census Bureau directive, this is the last chance to be counted in Elgin. The Census will conclude counting on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Please see the Census Bureau communication about when different response channels will close below.

If there are people yet to be counted who need assistance, Elgin Census Committee representatives will be at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Thursday, Oct. 15.

"We have so much at stake here. Elgin will lose $1,500 per year in federal funding for each person that is not counted, including children. We are still missing residents that have yet to be counted, that's a lot of money that Elgin is missing out on over the next 10 years. Let's all do our part, check-in with family and friends, and make sure our community gets counted," said Elgin Mayor David Kaptain.

"We are urging everyone to come over and be counted," said Rosa Lopez, Census Committee representative. She added, "Just 20 more people counted will bring $300,000 back to Elgin to support those in need."

"In our Census outreach efforts in the community, we have encountered people who have been reluctant. We are asking you to be counted in these last few days," said Martha Martinez, Census Committee representative.
