Monthlong festivities on tap at Big Timber Pumpkin Fest in Elgin

Head outdoors this fall and check out the Big Timber Pumpkin Fest events in October!

Three Fires Council, Boy Scouts of America offers festive fall activities for families, couples and people of all ages all month long at Camp Big Timber in Elgin. Select events must require participants to be 21 or older to enter. Health and safety measures are paramount. Social distancing and masks required.

• Barrels & Bones: Oct. 9-10

A fall evening with your friends, swaying to jazz music, sipping bourbon, sampling tasty meat entrees, and even sampling a bourbon barrel aged beer or two. VIP tickets include two special bourbon tastings, tasty foods to sample and seating in the Big Timber Lodge. General admission includes one special bourbon tasting, tasty foods to sample and seating outdoors in the tented area. VIP tickets, including early entry at 6 p.m., are $75; only 50 tickets available. General admission tickets, with 7 p.m. entry, are $50; only 50 tickets available. You must be 21 or older. • Sip & Carve: Oct. 16-17

Ready to take your pumpkin carving to the next level? If you answered yes, let's make it a date night or girls night! Grab a glass of wine and follow a local artist in carving a spooky, yet beautiful masterpiece on a pumpkin. You can take home your piece of art.

This casual "Date Night" event will include an art lesson from a professional, your own set of tools and pumpkins galore! Come sip some wine and learn how to carve like a pro.

Register as an individual or a couple. Couples will each receive their own pumpkin to carve, but share tools with their partner.

Only 50 tickets available each night. The event starts at 6 p.m., with the class at 7 p.m. Individual tickets are $60 or $100 for a couple. For tickets, visit www.bigtimberpumpkinfest.org/sip-and-carve.

• Family Fall Fest: Oct. 17 and 24

Who's ready for a carnival-style adventure this fall? Grab your family and head out to Camp Big Timber for a fun-filled day of pumpkin painting, scarecrow building and maybe even a petting zoo. The Family Fall Fest is open to young ages and those young at heart. It's a great day for new Cub Scout families.

Multiple sessions available, with 50 tickets available each day: 9 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and 2 to 4 p.m.

• Terror in the Timbers: Fridays and Saturdays in October

Get spooked! Enjoy the horror of a late-night drive through the woods. Not your traditional haunted house ... it's a haunted road through the scariest woods in northern Illinois. Scenes of gore and horror will thrill you to your bones.

Think you're safe behind a piece of glass and some metal? Think again. The dead have taken over the once innocent Big Timber Campgrounds and are coming for the living ... one car at a time.

This one-of-a-kind Halloween experience allows you to simply put your car in park, sit back and let the Terror begin.

There is a "horror lite" version of the haunt available. Just tell the ticket taker and they will set you up.

• Trick or Treat: Oct. 23, 30-31

Big Timber Pumpkin Fest will be offering drive-thru trick-or-treat. They will offer a safe and fun version of the Terror show that everyone in the family can come out an enjoy. Visit www.bigtimberpumpkinfest.org/trick-or-treat to secure your tickets to this all-new Halloween adventure!

From 3:30 to 5 p.m., dress in your favorite Halloween costume and drive through the "spooky forest." They will have special treats for every person in the car and you'll get some behind-the-scenes views of the scary drive in the woods during daylight hours.

• Big Timber Brew Fest: Oct. 23-24

Cheers to the great outdoors! They will be bringing in several breweries and some music for you and your friends to enjoy a rockin' evening out. Plus, food truck options will let you enjoy eats from some of your favorite and restaurants. Two fest times available at 2 and 6 p.m.

Beer samplings from 15 local breweries, great music and good company included in ticket price. The fee is $40 for individual or $400 for your very own bier garden for no more than 10 people.
