Fox Valley United Way to host Drive-Thru BBQ and Cruise Night Sept. 30

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, the Fox Valley community has an opportunity to enjoy a barbecue dinner from popular 5B's Catering Service and attend a free cruise night, while supporting local social service agencies hit hard by COVID-19.

Fox Valley United Way created the drive-thru event to help raise funds for its Fox Valley Coronavirus Relief and Recovery Fund.

Launched in March in response to the increased demand for social services in Kane and Kendall counties, the fund continues to help the community rebuild in the wake of the pandemic.

"As the pandemic continues, our nonprofit agencies throughout Kane and Kendall county continue to address needs identified by our area residents," said Trish Rooney, Director of Childhood Initiatives, Fox Valley United Way. "Fox Valley United Way is committed to supporting our nonprofit organizations and residents during these unprecedented times. The BBQ fundraiser will add to the support that we can provide these social service agencies and the people who benefit from their care."

In addition, the event is a chance to thank our very own local heroes, the front-line workers at Rush Copley Medical Center through a meal donation.

Fox Valley United Way will distribute any meals donated to first responders, thanks to the generosity of local community members.

Blain's Farm and Fleet of Montgomery, 400 Route 30, is hosting the event, opening its parking lot for meal pickup between 5 and 7 p.m. that evening. Dinner options are $15 each and include pork chop dinner, chicken dinner or combo dinner. All meals include baked beans, coleslaw, applesauce and dinner roll.

Support a local front-line worker by donating a meal for $15.

"We are so grateful to Blain's Farm and Fleet for their willingness to partner with us for this occasion," said Kyla Brittain, Director of Development, Fox Valley United Way. "Their generosity to our organization and the community is truly appreciated. "

Preorders can be placed online at www.foxvalleyunitedway.org/BBQ. Orders will also be taken at the event.
