College of DuPage's Dialogue Over Distance series tackles election season this fall
Join College of DuPage experts this fall as they explore the American election process, from political cartoons to a local look at the impact of the national election.
These timely, thought-provoking talks will be presented live via Zoom as part of the "Dialogue Over Distance" series.
The free online series will be broadcast from 7 to 8:15 p.m. on select Tuesdays with themes changing each semester.
The series kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 13, with "Donkeys in Top Hats and Elephants in Tuxedos: Politics in Cartoons."
COD Humanities Professor Julia diLiberti will explore political and suffragette cartoons and discuss how such cartoons have swayed votes and entertained readers for decades. Register at www.cod.edu/news/.
Additional fall programming includes "Long Lines, Mail-in Ballots and Election Outcomes," presented by COD political science faculty, on Tuesday, Nov. 17, and "Coattails or Chasms: Local Impact of National Elections," presented by COD Political Science Associate Professor Melissa Mouritsen, COD Political Science Adjunct Faculty Member William Enright and Elmhurst University Professor Constance Mixon, on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
The spring semester presentations will feature experts discussing the environment. Speakers and topics will be announced at a later date.

The "Dialogue Over Distance" series grew out of the college's Speakers Bureau in response to COVID-19.
Since its start in April, the series has presented on a broad range of topics, including backyard astronomy, economic resiliency amid COVID-19, mental health and social inequalities during the pandemic. Speakers have included experts from COD's faculty and staff, as well as individuals such as Angel Price, attractions engineering services manager for "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios."
