Giving Hope fundraiser offers financial support for suburban families

Sunday, Oct. 11, Faith Community Homes will host its annual Giving Hope fall fundraiser online in a live virtual event.

The program, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., will feature a creative mix of livestream and video presentations to engage participants and rally financial support for the low-income, working families Faith Community Homes serves in the Northwest suburbs.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made life extra challenging for the client families of Faith Community Homes, according to Charles Warner, executive director.

"Layoffs, reduced work hours and lack of child care have only added to the financial hurdles our clients face, seriously hindering their ability to make ends meet and pay the rent," said Warner.

Throughout 2020, Faith Community Homes has continued to work closely with families to weather the pandemic storm. Services include rent support, targeted coaching and mentoring by professional case managers and trained volunteer mentors, and other support based on each family's needs.

The organization has also been actively helping former clients through gift cards and rent support.

The Oct. 11 Giving Hope virtual event will seek to provide the extra support so urgently needed. Faith Community Homes has set an ambitious goal to raise $50,000 to address the critical wage gaps and other problems its client families now face.

"Unfortunately, the financial need has never been greater," said Warner. "The dollars raised will enable Faith Community Homes to not only help families stay afloat, but also to have hope for the future in this very uncertain time."

Giving Hope will include messages from several local mayors, an interview with ABC 7 News Anchor Alan Krashesky, a report of family challenges during the pandemic and inspiring success stories, as well as an online auction, raffle drawing and special "Fund the Need" live auction.

Advance RSVP is requested for this free event. Register at www.fchomes.org.

Registered individuals will receive an email prior to the event with links for both the online auction and "Fund the Need"live auction.
