Impromptu Concert w/Northwest Symphony Orchestra & First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights

First Presbysterian Church of Arlington Heights and the Northwest Symphony Orchestra joined together to cheer a COVID-19 weary audience with a live classical music program on a beautiful, cool and sunny Sunday afternoon in the First Presbysterian parking lot Sept. 13.

The program began with the NSO's brass section playing a rousing fan-fair of LaPeri (Dukas), followed by Canzona Bergamasca (Scheidt), Dance (Renwick), Die Baenkelsaengerlieder (Anon.), Scherzo (Cheetham) and ending with This Old Man (Nagle).

The remainder of the concert was the Coffee Cantata of J.S. Bach performed by Megan Hendrickson, soprano, Nick Pulikowski, tenor, and Dan Richardson, bass. They were accompanied by members of the NSO and music director, Tim Semanik.

The one-hour concert was enlivened by gusty winds, that at times blew the sheet music about and had musicians and Adam Hendrickson, First Presbysterian's Music Director catching these high flyers. This gave this concert a special homey charm not normally found in a more formal setting. The conductor, musicians and soloists never missed a beat and were rewarded with a rousing ovation from the very appreciative audience.
