Adler Center offers art programs for all ages

The Adler Arts Center in Libertyville has announced registration for an array of virtual art classes. The Adler Center offers short sessions designed for busy children, teens, and adults interested in trying something creative at home. Classes begin in late September and early October.

Adult and Teen Art Classes

• #Inktober Workshop. Begins Oct. 9. Inktober is a monthlong art challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is focused on improving skills and developing positive artistic habits. Four weeks of workshops will focus on different mediums to help students explore and heighten their artistic abilities.

Youth Art Classes

• The World of Marvel Comics. Begins Sept. 22. Learn the history of the great American comic book writer and editor Stan Lee, from how he created Spider-Man through the "Avengers" movies, and learn how to draw your favorite characters.

• Fantasy Makeup. Begins Oct. 1. Explore how to create exciting characters and spectacular illusions through the art of makeup. In this class, students will learn stage and cinematic makeup techniques to turn themselves into a variety of fantastical creatures, spirits, animals, monsters and more.

• Dia de los Muertos. Begins Oct. 2. Celebrate the Day of the Dead by making colorful lanterns, piñatas, paper banners and skeletons. In this class, students explore Dia de los Muertos and receive step-by-step directions for making everything needed for a colorful and festive family party.

• Painting with the Great Master Artists. Begins Oct. 13. This class will introduce the painting styles of colorful Master Artists: Matisse, Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet. Each week participants will learn a different technique along with fun facts about each famous artist. Acrylic paints and pastels will be used.

Family Art Workshops

The Adler Arts Center is ready for a very special Halloween season. Seasonal family workshops include fantasy makeup and Día de los Muertos sessions the whole family will love.

• Saturday, Sept. 26. Halloween Bootcamp: Mermaids and Sea Creatures

• Sunday, Oct. 11. Halloween Bootcamp: Ghosts, Ghouls and Monsters

• Saturday, Oct. 24. Día de los Muertos, A Family Workshop

Registration is also open for individual music instruction in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, guitar, ukulele and saxophone. Schedule lessons that fit your schedule with daytime and evening options Monday through Thursday, as well as Saturday hours. Choose virtual or in-person instruction. Trial lessons are available.
