Is Your Military Veteran Buried At Evergreen?

The Signal Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will honor military veterans by coordinating wreath-laying on National Wreaths Across America Day at the Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington this December 18, 2021.

This year's theme is "Live Up To Their Legacy," a reminder of sacrifices made by service personnel and their families to guarantee our freedom.

The Wreaths Across America nonprofit group was founded in 2007; since then, the annual event has expanded to all 50 states to lay wreaths at veterans' cemeteries to remember our fallen heroes, honor those who serve and teach our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families. The Signal Hill NSDAR chapter continues to work with the Evergreen Cemetery Association to identify the graves of all US military veterans interred there.

To date, nearly 700 veterans dating from the Civil War have been identified by the bronze or stone US Government markers offered to all military veterans. If your family has a US Military Veteran (not identified as above) recently interred at Evergreen Cemetery, please contact local project coordinator, Deborah Edlund, at debedlund@gmail.com.

Information regarding the ordering of memorial wreaths for Evergreen and general information on the Wreaths Across America program may be found at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/ILEGCA.
