Leo Club collecting donations for Almost Home Foundation

The Elk Grove Leo Club kicked off its 14th annual Pet Food and Supply drive to benefit the Almost Home Foundation on Tuesday, Sept. 1, by placing collection boxes at the Elk Grove Village Jewel, the Elk Grove Pavilion, the Hattendorf Center and in the lobby at Berkshire Hathaway, 1010 Rohlwing Road, Elk Grove Village, and at a booth at the Elk Grove Farmers Market each Saturday.

The annual drive will run through Sunday, Nov. 1. Any new and unused cat or dog food, cat or dog toys or cat or dog essentials are welcomed at any of these donation sites and will be presented to representatives of the Almost Home Foundation at the Leo Club's Nov. 8 meeting.

The club's goal is to collect more than 1,000 items that will benefit the Almost Home Foundation and all the rescue animals it cares for, places in foster homes and with new adoptive owners.

The Elk Grove Village Leo Club is the youth organization for students ages 12 to 18, and operates under the umbrella of the Elk Grove Village Lions Club, a recognized chapter by Lions Clubs International.

The Elk Grove Leo Club meets at 10 a.m. the second Sunday of each month, typically at Panera Bread on Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village.

Other activities that the Leo Club engages in within the village of Elk Grove include both the Halloween and Holiday House judging contests, serving as elves for Santa at the annual village tree-lighting, and assisting with both park district and village functions, including Pioneer Days; the Play, Picnic & Party event; and the Carnival of Exceptional Character.
