Golf outing raises more than $480,000 for cancer care vision at NCH
Northwest Community Hospital Foundation's 23rd annual Golf Classic at Medinah Country Club on Aug. 10 raised more than $480,000 in net proceeds and far surpassed previous fundraising records for this long-standing event.
Funds will support an ambitious plan to transform cancer care for the region.
SEI was the Title Sponsor of the 2020 outing that also included an online silent auction and raffle that garnered support from attendees and members of the community.
The Golf Classic has raised more than $11 million in gross revenue in its 23-year history.
"In a very difficult time in health care, the optimism and support shown to us by our valued friends was uplifting," said Dr. Henry Dominicis, co-chairman of the event and physician director of Ambulatory Services at Northwest Community Healthcare.
Changes, such as social distancing measures, were implemented to help the golfers who attended not only enjoy the day but also stay safe.
Event co-chairman Giancarlo Pacini, who is senior vice president of Healthcare and Senior Living with Leopardo Construction, said, "Enhancing cancer care for our entire region brought so many people and organizations together. There was nothing but positivity the entire time, and I just feel honored to have been able to be part of it."
"The prognosis for cancer patients has been improving over the years, however, the rates of diagnosis and the need for oncology services continue to rise. Northwest Community Healthcare is working to improve each step of this frightening journey for patients and their families - to take our outstanding programs, physicians and care teams and make them even better," said David Ungurean, executive director of the Northwest Community Healthcare Foundation.

Northwest Community Healthcare looks forward to hosting the 24th annual event in the summer of 2021 at Medinah Country Club.
