Palatine Hills Golf Association in full swing for SALUTE, Inc.

Careful planning and execution made for a safe and successful fundraiser as Time Savers Aerials and the Palatine Hills Golf Association held their annual golf outing for SALUTE, Inc., on July 20.

Working within health guidelines, 72 golfers hit the links at Rolling Green Country Club and helped raise more than $36,000 for the Palatine-based nonprofit organization serving military veterans and their families.

"We reduced the number of entries by 50% this year to manage social contact, but still raised more than our goal," said SALUTE Executive Director Mary Beth Beiersdorf. "The Palatine Hills Golf Association team has been very loyal to our cause and have now raised more than $100,000 in the past four years."

Golfers enjoyed lunch on the course and then practiced social distancing outside the clubhouse for cocktails and individually plated appetizers while sharing stories from the day's outing.

Each year the event includes a 50/50 raffle and, against all odds, there was a repeat winner. A local Marine Corp veteran won for the second consecutive year, and rather than keeping his share of the proceeds, donated it to back to SALUTE.

"A large portion of our annual budget comes from events like this, but the pandemic has prevented us from hosting almost all of them in 2020," said Beiersdorf. "The fact that we were able to have such a successful outing will really impact the lives of a number of military families in need of physical and mental health services. We are so grateful to the Palatine Hills Golf Association and Rolling Green for making this happen."

SALUTE recently launched new fundraising opportunities with the Round-Up app and through the Amazon Smiles program.

"Despite the pandemic, the need to assist military families remains a priority, so we are relying on individual and corporate donors more than ever," said Beiersdorf.
