Entries due Aug. 14 for Oakton women's art exhibition

Professional artists who self-identify as women are invited to submit entries in all media to Oakton Community College for the virtual exhibition "Where Are We Now?: Activism of the Everyday," by Friday, Aug. 14.

Due to ongoing concerns for the health and safety of the Oakton community during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's exhibition will be solely online.

The exhibition, sponsored by Women's and Gender Studies (WGS) at Oakton, will be available publicly Oct. 19 through Nov. 20.

Oakton's annual women's art show is one of the region's premier art events, attracting hundreds of participants and routinely drawing submissions locally, nationally and internationally. Themes focus on issues and ideas involving women, gender and feminism. This year's exhibition thoughtfully examines how women have continued to evolve and change. Topics include: women as global citizens, providers, voters entering an election year, lovers, activists and individuals. Furthermore, the art show will explore where women are headed and why it matters.

All submissions must be submitted electronically at https://oakton.sharefile.com/r-r8f4944570f04df6b.

Images should be a JPEG (.jpg) of at least 300 dpi (at least one MB). Label all work with the name, home address and phone number of the artist. Also, include the title of work, date and medium. Artist statement and biography should be a Microsoft Word document only (no PDFs or JPEGs) and less than 150 words (no résumés). Text will be edited for spelling, grammar and space. All digital media will be considered.
