Side Street Studio Arts opens 'One True Line' exhibit

Side Street Studio Arts in Elgin will host "One True Line," a solo exhibition by artist-in-residence Kathryn Eli.

The exhibit, first slated to go on display this spring, takes the concept of the continuous line to a new level, on and off canvas- across the gallery walls.

"One True Line" is a collection of paintings arranged to describe a journey in awakening. "The line" moves through and connects meticulously painted, color saturated narrative scenes; emotional abstractions that describe states of empowerment, enlightenment, connection, isolation, despair, perseverance, presence, acceptance, and healing.

Gallery hours are: 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays, Aug. 14 and 21, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

Masks and physical distancing will be required.

Also, don't miss the "Lockdown Renaissance," an in-person exhibition highlighting the changes in identity during quarantine, on Aug. 7-9 in the Side Street Theater.

Side Street Studio Arts was founded by Melvin and Erin Rehberg in 2013 as an outlet for the Elgin arts scene. Side Street provides educational and creative resources and an inclusive space run by artists. Side Street's mission is to support the artist and artistic journey through collaboration.
