DuPage Senior Citizens Council needs volunteers to deliver meals

DuPage Senior Citizens Council and Kane Senior Council are looking for volunteers throughout July to deliver frozen and shelf-stable/nonperishable meals to older adults in DuPage and Kane counties.

Volunteers are needed on July 21, 22 and 23. They will report to 1990 Springer Drive in Lombard. The hours are between 8:30 a.m. and noon.

Requirements to volunteer are a valid driver's license, current car insurance, and completing a small registration form.

Each volunteer will have their car loaded with boxes of meals and then given a delivery route.

If interested in delivering meals or any of the volunteer opportunities, visit www.dupageseniorcouncil.org or call (630) 746-0909.

Since 1975, the DuPage Senior Citizens Council has been providing meals and a variety of services that help seniors live safely in their homes with dignity.

The issues seniors face - like hunger, loneliness and isolation - are often hidden in plain sight. Part of its mission is to educate others on these issues and to generate the awareness and support needed to bring about real solutions. By reaching into the community, they share the responsibility of loving and caring for seniors.

Volunteers include retired seniors who deliver meals, young adults who check on seniors, and handymen who make small home repairs.

As a proud member of the Meals on Wheels Association of America, the DuPage Senior Citizens Council is the Meals on Wheels provider for all of DuPage County.
