DuPage Friends of Extension hosts online auction for community programs

DuPage Friends of Extension is hosting an online auction fundraiser of garden favorites and donated items from community businesses. Check out the items up for auction between now and July 24.

"This unique fundraiser is not just for gardeners," said Marilyn Joyner, vice president of the DuPage Friends of Extension. "In addition to garden tools and supplies, the auction includes home decor, gift certificates to area businesses, spa items, and more. Our event supports a variety of University of Illinois Extension programs, which reach a range of audiences from youth through seniors."

Many of the items were donated for the annual "Celebrate Spring" event hosted by DuPage Friends of Extension, which was originally scheduled for March 21.

Almost 100 items are on auction, including gift certificates to local nurseries and restaurants, art and garden supplies and books, movie baskets, golf for four at Cantigny or brunch for six, four passes to Morton Arboretum or the Field Museum, and more.

To participate in the summer online auction, go to tinyurl.com/DFOE2020.

Proceeds help support University of Illinois Extension community programs including: 4-H Youth Development; Learning for Life; STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects for youth; Nutrition and Wellness programs; and a wide array of Master Gardener volunteer projects, including working with veterans at Cantigny Park, youth at We Grow Dreams, families at the Ronald McDonald House, therapeutic horticulture, school programs, community gardens, and more.
