Elmhurst to offer electronic recycling July 25

On Saturday, July 25, the City of Elmhurst will host an Electronics Recycling event from 8 a.m. until noon at the public works facility, 985 S. Riverside Drive.

This event is in cooperation with DuPage County and EWorks.

EWorks has several precautions in place including encouraging residents that need to pay, to do so in advance online.

Residents are asked to pay online in advance and show the staff the receipt.

If cash payment in necessary, it must be exact change. Staff will be keeping their distance and residents should stay in their vehicles.

The following items will be accepted: computers, laptops, servers, printers, fax machines, scanners, VCR and DVD players, video game consoles, cable and converter boxes, satellite receivers, electronic keyboards, mice, portable music players, holiday string lights, wire, cables, adapters, power supplies, cell phones, modems, tablets, phones, and docking stations. There is no charge for recycling these items.

For computer monitors and TVs, including CRT, flat screens, projection TVs and monitors, there is a set fee per unit: $25 for under 21-inch screen; or $35 for 21 inches and over. A tax-deductible donation fee applies for all TVs and monitors.

They accept cash or credit cards; no checks.

Payment may be made in advance at www.recycle.eworksi.org or on site. Coupon and tax deductible receipt provided at the time of drop off for any fees

The following items will not be accepted: large and small appliances, electronics from businesses, hazardous and chemical waste.

Please note that because the city now is hosting regular electronics recycling events, the Elmhurst College Recycling Extravaganza, held in the spring, will not be collecting electronics.
