Batavia's Water Street Studios offers creative online camps

Looking for something your kids can do this summer? Make time at home more creative with these new, weeklong online camps, offered by Water Street Studios in Batavia. It is made for kids to do with a parent or on their own.

Cost of each course is $85. A supply kit is included in the course fee (a $20 value). These live Zoom courses meet for 90 minutes a day for five days. A recording of each session will be available for you to view if you are unable to attend a live session.

The supply kit for each course is available for contact-free curbside pickup from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on the Saturday before the class at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St. in Batavia. Register at water-street-studios.coursestorm.com/category/kids.

3-D Art Camp:

Create amazing 3-D projects using simple materials, ingenuity, and a lot of creativity. Kids, age 6 to 12, can imagine and create an Alebrije face mask (a fantastical creature from Mexican folklore). Construct a "selfie" tin foil gesture study, a family of foxes, and a fun kite rocket. The course, led by Lisa Holzl, will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 13-17. Supply kit pickup is July 11.

Paper Palooza:

Get ready for fun mornings of color, texture, pattern, layering, and more. Kids, age 6 to 12, will use painted papers to create beautiful flowers. Tear, cut, glue, and print paper to make a fish print. There are so many creative paper projects in this engaging online camp. The course, led by Sabrina Martin, will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 20-24. Supply kit pickup is July 18.

Let's Draw:

Learn different ways to draw as you create a mountain landscape, study the Maasai culture, use the "resist" technique to draw a tropical fish, and make a perspective drawing of Canadian trees. Kids, age 6 to 12, will experiment with charcoal drawing as they create a surrealist animal inspired by Salvador Dali, and more. The course, led by Lisa Holzl, will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 27-31. Supply kit pickup is July 25.

Wild for Wildlife:

If you are wild for wildlife, this is the camp for you! Work on color, texture, and emotion and learn how to imaginatively illustrate animals insects, and sea creatures. The materials used are pencils, ink, watercolor markers, and your choice of items for mosaics. You'll complete two drawings/paintings, and multiple individual wildlife drawings. The course, led by Kristin Schimmel, will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, Aug. 3-7. Supply kit pickup is Aug. 1.

Water Street Studios is a 501(c)3 for-purpose art center located in downtown Batavia. Its mission is to help make the arts more accessible to the Fox Valley region and beyond.
