Glen Ellyn American Legion Post 3 awards 2020 scholarship

Gabriella Johnson of Wheaton, a student at Purdue University, was named the 2020 winner of the Robert Kent Scholarship.

Each year, the Glen Ellyn American Legion Post 3 Robert Kent Scholarship Foundation Committee accepts applications for scholarship grants for students, 17 to 21 years of age, to help further their education.

In order to be eligible, the applicants must be the children or grandchildren of a veteran and planning to or are attending college, trade school, or technical school.

The scholarship is awarded on the individual's community involvement, as well as financial need.

Following the 2019 Memorial Day ceremony at Lake Ellyn Park, the village hosted a picnic to honor of the 100th anniversary of the Glen Ellyn American Legion Post 3. Any donations made at the event helped fund the American Legion Post 3 Robert Kent Scholarship Foundation.
