Home Ice Chicago hockey stores Working to Get Kids Back on the Ice

Home Ice Chicago could be considered just another business amongst the thousands that have been negatively effected by the COVID-19 crisis. When rinks are closed and teams aren't playing, hockey gear and services aren't being purchased. "It's been a couple of stressful months of uncertainty," explained Home Ice Founder, Jeff Dolphin. "Thankfully, we have a very loyal customer base, and they are ready to get back to playing."

The staff at Home Ice feel strongly that hockey and other sporting activities need to resume as soon as possible, not only for physical activity, but the list of additional benefits that come from active competition.

"Life is about balance," said Dolphin. "All of us… kids and adults have spent the past few months at home, and often with hours in front of the TV or computer screen. It is so concerning to think about the lack of physical activity for so many people."

Home Ice operates two brick and mortar retail locations, one in Winnetka, and one at the North Shore Ice Arena in Northbrook. They offer a wide range of hockey accessories, protective gear, and sports equipment. They are recognized as one of the best midwest locations for skate sharpening, and have become the local source for providing teams with uniforms and other team apparel.

"We're now back in conversations with a number of schools and team organizations who are hoping to get back onto the ice soon," Dolphin continued. "We supply teams with both equipment and uniforms, so we're busy preparing. Our new web site will help us reach additional customers and take our business to the next level."

Home Ice already serves teams as far as St. Louis and other Midwest cities, but Dolphin is confident that additional hockey clubs will soon learn about Home Ice.

Jeff explained the reason for offering products to purchase online was fueled by numerous calls and emails over the last couple of months from parents, grandparents, and others looking to buy sports related graduation and birthday gifts for their friends and family members. As part of their online products, they are offering online gift cards specifically for gift buying customer convenience.

Home Ice is currently back to business with store hours (Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am - 2:00pm) at their Winnetka location. The Northbrook store is planning to open at the end of the month.
