The Land Conservancy offers free tree and shrub identification virtual tour

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is providing an opportunity to learn about McHenry County's trees and shrubs in a free video with TLC's restoration ecologist Melissa Grycan.

The video will be released on Thursday, June 25. Participants are asked to register at www.ConserveMC.org by June 22 to receive the video link via email.

Viewers will learn how to identify common native trees and shrubs based on their buds, bark and leaves.

After watching the video, participants are encouraged to visit Hennen Conservation Area at 4622 Dean St. in Woodstock to follow the trail and test their new tree identification skills while social distancing.

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is a member-based private nonprofit dedicated to preserving natural, scenic and agricultural land.

Since 1991, The Land Conservancy has helped protect over 2,500 acres of McHenry County's prairies, wetlands and woodlands by working with private landowners, communities and other partners. They do this by accepting donated conservation easements and direct acquisition of property (through purchase or donation).
