Tempco raises funds for Bensenville & Wood Dale Food Pantry

During these difficult times presented by the outbreak of COVID-19, Tempco Electric Heater Corp. in Wood Dale has been able to continue to operate and maintain its workforce of over 400 employees as an "Essential Business" under and in accordance with Gov. Pritzker's Executive Orders.

Tempco has been proud of its ability to maintain the employment and wages of its employees in a safe working environment during the COVID-19 outbreak. Tempco has been even prouder of its employees who have continued to provide their hard work and dedication to serving Tempco's customers during these uncertain times.

Tempco employees have always been appreciative of their own circumstances and mindful of others who might be less fortunate. As the COVID-19 crisis progressed, a number of Tempco employees reflected upon their own good circumstances during these times of having a job and stable wages at Tempco and recognized that others in our community were not as fortunate as them because of the effects of COVID-19 on our economy.

As a result, many in our community have either been laid-off or have lost their jobs through no fault of their own causing people to struggle to feed their families. Motivated by the desire to help others, one of Tempco's sales managers, Kathie Terranella, volunteered to spearhead a drive to raise funds from Tempco employees to help those in need locally. Tempco employees, as always, have stepped up to the challenge.

In an email sent to Tempco employees, Terranella wrote, "I feel so blessed and fortunate to still be working and having a regular paycheck I can count on. I am sure you all feel the same way. With so much out of my control, I have decided to focus on what I can control. And the one thing I can do is help feed those that may be having a hard time. I am asking you all to join me in an employee driven food drive to benefit the Bensenville & Wood Dale Food Pantry."

As no surprise, Tempco employees responded generously. Over a period of two weeks, a significant sum of money was raised. Including matching dollars provided by Tempco, a check for $5,000 will be presented to the Bensenville & Wood Dale Food Pantry on Saturday, June 20.

Fermin A. Adames, Tempco's president, said, "I am very pleased and impressed with our employees' generosity and concern for those in need during these challenging times. We have an exceptional team of people working at Tempco and I am very proud of our team and their generosity to those in our community. Our employees' selfless generosity reflects the principles upon which Tempco was founded."

Tempco was founded by Fermin Adames, Sr. in August of 1972 to manufacture electric heating elements for a wide range of industrial, commercial, scientific and medical applications. Today, Tempco manufactures approximately 30 different types of heating elements and thermocouples with hundreds of design variations serving original equipment manufacturers and end-users alike in the plastics, rubber, packaging, medical and food service industries.
