On May 29, Heritage Church gave away pizzas to nearly 900 teachers and staff in the Lake Zurich, Round Lake Beach and Libertyville school districts.

Coordinating with Rosati's locations across Lake County, more than 100 volunteers thanked and cheered on teachers and staff while handing out pizzas, sodas and gifts.

"We wanted to honor all of our teachers and staff for the way they take care of our students and have made the very best of a season that no one ever expected. We know how much they love our students and communities, so we wanted to say thank you to as many as we could," said the Rev. Skyler Goodman, lead pastor of Heritage Church.

"Our church has always valued being a vital part of our communities. Our teacher and staff appreciation event was a great way to let our communities know that we are for them and cheering them on,"

In a season where good news seems to be at a premium, this event could not have come at a better time.
