Waukegan Park District announces summer camp begins June 15

The Waukegan Park District has announced its summer camp experience: the Summer Fun Club. The Summer Fun Club is scheduled to run in four, two-week sessions from Monday, June 15 to Friday, Aug. 14.

The Summer Fun Club will follow all requirements set by the Restore Illinois plan, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Department of Children and Family Services, including smaller group sizes, separate room locations between camp groups, increased sanitation practices, face coverings when needed and social distancing restrictions.

Registration is now available. Due to the need to keep groups separate and provide indoor shelter for each group, spaces will be limited.

Information regarding the Summer Fun Club, including fees, schedules and registration forms, will be made available at waukeganparks.org/funclub. Additional questions can be directed to Javi Martinez at jmartinez@waukeganparks.org or (847) 360-4706, or Jen Dumas at jdumas@waukeganparks.org or (847) 360-4705.

"The Summer Fun Club will be a unique summer camp for the children in our community," Waukegan Park District Board President Jeremiah Johnson said. "Our caring staff is working to provide an enriching experience while keeping everyone safe."

"The health and safety of our participants and staff is our top priority," Waukegan Park District Executive Director Jay Lerner said. "The Summer Fun Club will offer a fun experience for children, and we will continue to explore opportunities to provide recreation and leisure programs as national, state and local guidelines allow."
