60th annual Algonquin Founders' Days canceled

The Algonquin Founders' Day Committee Inc. announces the cancellation of the 2020 Algonquin Founders' Days festival.

The committee members have spent the last couple of months in discussion regarding the fate of the 60th annual event. Carefully watching world happenings and more so what is happening here in Illinois. The committee sought input from the village of Algonquin officials as well as various department heads.

After much reflection of the current COVID-19 situation and recent capacity restrictions mandated by the state of Illinois, the committee has decided that the health and safety of festival participants, entertainers, volunteers, and staff could not be guaranteed. Therefore, the committee regretfully announces the cancellation of the 2020 Algonquin Founders' Days Festival and all its events.

We look forward to the next time we can bring some Founders' fun to the community. Until then, the committee and staff will begin optimistic planning for 2021.
