Elburn dentist takes over Marklund dental services

Richard Stewart, DDS, of Elburn has been contracted to provide dental services for the Marklund organization's facilities in Geneva and Elgin. Marklund is a nonprofit that provides residential, therapeutic and educational services children and adults with profound developmental disabilities.

Dr. Stewart is not new to Marklund. Three years ago, he started working with Marklund residents at its Geneva facility who needed oral surgery, completing them at the nearby Northwestern Medicine-Delnor Hospital where he has staff privileges.

In this new role for the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva and Wasmond Center in Elgin, Dr. Stewart will complete regular assessments on the residents as well additional dental procedures as needed.

Dr. Stewart graduated in 1992 from Southern Illinois University-School of Dental Medicine. He has been practicing General Dentistry in Elburn, Illinois since 1995. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Fox River Valley Dental Society. For the past 26 years, he has provided dental services to adults with developmental disabilities at a residential facility in Dixon, IL.

He is only one of 135 dentists to reach mentor status after graduation from the KOIS Center for Advancing Dentistry Through Science. Dr. Stewart has also taken numerous continuing education courses on dental implants in order to be able to provide comprehensive dental care to patients with missing teeth. He completed his Implant Fellowship through the International Congress of Oral Implantologist, and expanded his implant education by completing courses at the MISCH International Implant Institute and a mini-residency in Bone Grafting and Implant Placement.
