'GLMV Helping Healthcare Heroes' fundraiser is feeding the front line

The "GLMV Helping Healthcare Heroes" fundraiser is having an impact for the community.

Due to many generous donations, the Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Chamber of Commerce has already provided 500 meals from its member restaurants to the health care heroes at Advocate Condell in Libertyville and first responders at the local police and fire stations.

Since its launch about six weeks ago, the campaign has raised $11,695 with a goal of $25,000.

"Our health care heroes and local restaurants are all grateful for the generosity and support shown via our efforts," GLMV Chairman Karen Kay Lavris said.

Contributor appreciation and enthusiasm is overflowing for the work of these heroes.

"Thank you to all the heroes working tirelessly on the front lines of COVID-19!" commented a donor who gave online under the user name Carmel Girls Lunch Bunch '75.

"We greatly appreciate all of the sacrifices you make on a daily basis. Thank you," a donor with the user name Marianne commented.

Participating restaurants provide and deliver individually packaged meals to the teams. A designated individual meets them outside the hospital or location to pick up the meals, and then distributes them to the teams as soon as possible.

The restaurants also appreciate the support during this challenging time, including Mickey Finns, MainStreet Social, Catered Productions, Cluckers Charcoal Chicken, McAllisters Deli, City BBQ, Lazy Dog Restaurant, Jameson's Charhouse, Cafe Pomigliano, O'Toole's, and others.

The GLMV Chamber thanks all participants for making a difference.
