HEParks reaches out to community for representation

Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks) is looking for residents who are passionate about local parks and community programming to apply as Community Representatives for the district's standing committees. A volunteer position, Community Representatives, work with staff and HEParks Elected Board Members on standing committees that shape the programs, activities and parks within the district.

Standing Committees consist of two Park Commissioners and up to five community representatives appointed by the Board annually. HEParks staff reports to the Standing Committees monthly. The Committee makes recommendations to the full Board for action items at the monthly Board meeting. Community Representatives do not vote as members of the park board.

The standing committees for the Park District include: the Buildings & Grounds Committee, addressing topics relating to the improvement or development of facilities or park grounds; the Recreation Committee, focuses on the organization and implementation of recreational programs; and the Administration & Finance Committee, which addresses topics relating to personnel and financial issues affecting the Park District.

Residents interested in serving on a committee should submit a Community Representative Questionnaire no later than April 30th to the Park District's Executive Director outlining their qualifications and why they are interested in serving. Board Appointments will be made at the Board of Commissioner's Annual Meeting in May.
