Aurora Methodists seek $30,000 to aid neighbors impacted by COVID-19

Aurora Methodists are raising $30,000 on two GoFundMe pages to help neighbors impacted by COVID-19.

The Rev. John Bell, pastor at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora, said, "All of us will be receiving a stimulus check from the federal government. They will be arriving anywhere from two to six weeks from now. Those of us who have not felt a negative financial impact from the COVID-19 could share part or all the check we will be receiving.

Wesley Church has set up GoFundMe accounts to receive donations. One account is for donations from the community, a separate account is for donations from church members. The goal is to raise $30,000.

"When the goal is achieved, we will begin to receive requests for financial assistance from our Aurora neighbors who have been financially devastated by this pandemic," Rev. Bell said. "I am blessed because my income has not been impacted by this horrible pandemic. I invite you to join me donating all or a portion of your stimulus check to this fund. Our neighbors are hurting. Most have never had to ask for help even one time in their lives. We are in a very unusual situation. Please join me in reaching our goal of $30,000 to help our friends and neighbors.
