Northbrook Chamber responds to COVID-19 business disruption with community information

To support Northbrook-area businesses during this public health emergency, the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce is ramping up efforts to share information about ongoing business operations with the public through social and digital media. These efforts include updates on the Northbrook Chamber and Northbrook Shopping Elf Facebook pages, a list of restaurants that are continuing pick-up or delivery service published on the Chamber website, and coordination with local officials through the Glenview Northbrook Coronavirus Task Force.

The Chamber's Restaurant List, available at www.NorthbrookChamber.org, has phone numbers and service details for almost all Northbrook restaurants. The information was distributed through the Live Shop Dine Northbrook text program and shared widely on social media. The list will be updated periodically, but users are encouraged to contact restaurants directly before leaving home.

Chamber staff will next be reaching out to area retail businesses for information about hours of operation, availability of delivery or pickups, and other changes. Retailers may send information to info@northbrookchamber.org, or tag @NorthbrookShoppingElf in Facebook posts to share their updates.

The chamber is also disseminating resources important to all businesses, including a survey on economic injury issued by the Illinois Department of Commerce that may lead to disaster funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration. In coming days, the chamber will be developing additional platforms to connect members, businesses, government officials, and the general public. "We are all very concerned with how to support our local businesses during this disruptive and uncertain period," notes Tensley Garris, Chamber president. "The Chamber will do all it can to share accurate, useful information with the widest audience possible. I ask the business community to share their ideas and updates to help us with that mission."
