The Science & Arts Academy, Des Plaines, Student Council challenged the entire school community to be part of the "Food Fight" sponsored by the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry's board of directors. From Feb. 1 through March 1, students collected nonperishable food items that would directly support those in need through the Self Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines. Student Council representatives specifically challenged each homeroom to collect at least three nonperishable items per student.

By March 1, the generous Science & Arts Academy community had donated more than 1,800 pounds of food to the Self Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines for its annual Food Fight. The students were excited to load up the Science & Arts Academy bus and deliver the collection in person.

Thank you to all of those in the community that donated!
