U-46 students showcase creative abilities at upcoming spring art shows
Elgin Area School District U-46 will celebrate the visual arts with three exhibits at Elgin State Bank locations displaying work from students across all levels of the district's schools: elementary, middle, and high school.
"Elgin State Bank has been a fantastic partner throughout the years," said U-46 Fine Arts Coordinator Jaimie Giraldo. "These three shows are a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their creative works to the community."
The elementary art exhibit, "Art is Elementary," has been an annual event with Elgin State Bank for more than 15 years, Giraldo said. The exhibit will feature artwork from students across the District's 40 elementary schools.
The middle school art exhibit, "Art Madness," includes a program called Rising Star. Through this program, students will be recognized by high school art teachers for their exceptional work and receive an invitation to exhibit at one of the high school's art shows.
The high school exhibit, "VISION," will be judged by a panel of professionals and student artworks will be recognized in several categories, including drawing, painting, photography, 3-D art, digital art, and mixed media.

The middle school art show "Art Madness" is on display through Saturday, March 28, at Elgin State Bank, 50 Tyler Creek Plaza. The reception will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The high school art show "VISION" will be Saturday, April 18 to Wednesday, April 29, at Elgin State Bank, 1001 S. Randall Road, Elgin. The reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The elementary school art show "Art is Elementary" will be Sunday, April 19, to Wednesday, May 6, at Elgin State Bank, 50 Tyler Creek Plaza, Elgin. The reception will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
