Lowrie teachers flip burgers for bilingual books

Lowrie Elementary students gave their teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to the Elgin school's library by raising funds to help with the purchase of bilingual books.

Martha Mancera the leading teacher and the amazing Lowrie staff, volunteered on Tuesday, March 10, at the Elgin McDonald's located at 1480 Larkin Ave., where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for their school.

The proceeds from the sale of 240 pies went directly to benefit the library as well as a percentage of the food sales during this event. The Elgin community has an amazing network of support for their schools, McDonald's was busy the entire evening!

David Bear, owner/operator of the Elgin McDonald's, was delighted to participate in this worthy cause for education and the community.

Bear donated a case of pies to the school for selling during the event.

Inspired by the success of McTeacher's Night, David Bear has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the area.

The Lowrie McTeacher's Night was courtesy of The Bear Family Restaurants and McDonald's owner/operator, David Bear. Visit www.facebook.com/BearFamilyMcDonalds/ or bearfamilyrestaurants.com.
