Christ Church's 'The Passion' to present Jesus' life through song May 3

Christ Church is postponing its annual production of "The Passion," initially scheduled for Palm Sunday April 5 to May 3.

Greg Nelson's "The Passion" is a professional, multimedia musical production which delivers a moving message of love and sacrifice with intent and purpose.

"The Passion" is a modern musical drama which tells the powerful story of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. Lyric Opera of Chicago member William Combs portrays the role of Jesus in this unique musical presentation. The tenor is accompanied by other professional soloists with years of experience performing in numerous venues across the country.

This high-caliber production features a 100-voice Chancel Choir, 40-piece professional orchestra and 11 professional soloists. The sanctuary at Christ Church, 501 Oak Brook Road in Oak Brook, will be transformed into a world-class theater on Sunday, May 3, for performances at 9 and 10:45 a.m.

"Several outstanding professional soloists take the stage to bring biblical characters to life through Scripture and song," said conductor Noelle Combs, Senior Director of Worship and Music at Christ Church. "Tenor William Combs, a 23-year musician with Lyric Opera of Chicago, sings the role of Jesus each year. There are very few church choirs in the country that have been blessed with such amazing talent in the ranks of our 100 voices."

This event is open to the public. Admission is free and child care is provided for children age 4 and under. Christ Church provides several free concert events throughout the year. For a sample of last year's presentation of "The Passion," please visit ChristChurch.us/passion.
