Wego Drama to stage IHSA contest pieces March 13-14

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues its 2019-2020 season with its Illinois High School Association "Showcase" performance.

A 40-minute play and 30-minute group interpretation will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 13-14, in the school's Weyrauch Auditorium, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10.

This season is focused on "Stories Told and Retold." These shows embody that theme as they deal with the power of the stories that need to be told. IHSA shows do deal with serious content and the performances are intended for teens and adults. The audience gets the benefit of two shows in one night.

Nathan Bradley, vice president of Wego Drama, states, "Over my years at Wego, I have always enjoyed these IHSA Performances. They are significant stories that are very important for our audience. This year, we are telling stories that most people do not know, but they need to know."

Captain Samuel Incrocci continues, "IHSA shows are truly different stylistically. It is very cool how we are creating the messages."

Noemi Lara says, "The fact that both of these shows are nonfiction adds to the importance for our audience. Now that I have been working on them, I honestly wished someone told them to me sooner."

Finally, President Ryan Castiglia states, "The student leadership team has a true drive in helping to select these shows. We know that these shows are important to the audience and we want them be a part of this experience."

The company of actors and crew for the show includes: Philip Calabrese, Maggie Hancock, Aidan Incrocci, and Samuel Incrocci from Carol Stream; Kenya Bahena, Nathan Bradley, Ryan Castiglia, Christina Champagne, Josie Kotke, Vinny Lamantia, DJ LaPlaca, Noemi Lara, Daniela Luna, Grace Miller, Vincent Ross, Cassi Villa, Olivia Wesling, and Chris Year, from West Chicago; and Ava Fini, Elizabeth Ryan, Cassi Villa, Katherine Vander Plaats, and Jazmin Wilkins, from Winfield.

The shows are directed by Mark Begovich. Scenic design and technical direction is by Chris Jensen. Hair and makeup is by Jamie Elza.
