Cancer survivor Jonny Imerman to speak at launch of support group for young adults with cancer

When he was diagnosed with cancer at just 26 years old, Jonny Imerman had never met another young adult with cancer. He had the loving support of family and friends, however Imerman recognized how beneficial it would be to talk to someone else who shared his experience.

That led him to found Imerman Angels, an organization that connects a person with cancer to a cancer survivor who is the same age, same gender and who has already faced the same type of cancer.

Community members are invited to hear Imerman share his story at a free event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, at LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, 442 Williamsburg Ave. in Geneva. To register, call (630) 262-1111.

Imerman's presentation will help kick off LivingWell's new Young Adults with Cancer Support Group (ages 18 to 39), which will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second Monday of each month starting in April. For more information about the support group or to register, call (630) 262-1111.
