'Improvised Dungeons & Dragons' comes to Playhouse 38

The Out On a Whim production of "Improvised Dungeons & Dragons" will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 29 and March 7, at the Geneva Park District's Playhouse 38 Theater, 321 Stevens St., Suite P, Geneva.

"Improvised Dungeons & Dragons" brings the classic tabletop role-playing game to life in a 90-minute improvised show. In each show, the audience selects a core cast of adventurers to embark on an epic quest guided by a guest Dungeon Master! Then watch as our heroes endure triumph and tragedy, romance and revenge, all while reckoning with the whims of the almighty D20!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
 

Improvised Dungeons and Dragons features the talents of: Jennifer Allman as Ryn Morana, High Elf Novice Wizard; Mike Begrowitcz as Brutus Scaleswallower, Dragonborn Knight; Georgie Caldwell as Seraphina Serpentina, Serpentine Fighter; Michael Coyne as Belfast McBelfast, Orc Bard; Quintin T. Hess as Dorabash Jones, Half-Orc Barbarian; Mike Hover as Magnar Tinforge, Dwarf Tinkerer; Joe Johnson as Baaaahb, Half-Elf Monk; Lauren Kincaid as Neb, Halfling Necromancer; Sarah Little as Scout, Firbolg Ranger; Darrell Monti as Jhoros Dahannas Condos Bubblebath III; Jessye Grace Mueller as Wynfina, High Elf Warlock; Bayley Pokorny as Quill Havencrest, Aasimar Cleric; Bryce Read as Barnabus Starlight, Human Paladin; Mark Rosenthal as Guy Anonymous, Human Rogue; Kaelea Rovinsky as Frox the Peeler, Goblin Assassin; Katie Ruppert as Malvolia, Teifling Sorceress; and Judson Russell as Caustic the Scathing, Lich Mage.

"Improvised Dungeons & Dragons" was co-created by Katie Ruppert and John Doychich. It is directed by Joshua Messick, with technical direction by Joseph Heyman.

Out On A Whim Comedy is an improv collective that originated as a Second City Coached Ensemble under the direction of Bryce Read. From there, Out On A Whim expanded to an ensemble of 16 talented individuals.

It's not just improv, it's theater on hard mode. Out On A Whim is committed to producing new complex forms, adapting genres, and utilizing traditional theatrical techniques to produce improv that is more than just a game.

Out On A Whim has performed "Improvised Dungeons & Dragons," "Improvised Fairytales," and "Black Tie Improv" all over the City of Chicago, and has helped raise money for Otherworld Theatre, PAWS Chicago, and The Children's Miracle Network. "Out On A Whim presents: Improvised Dungeons and Dragons" is presented in compliance with the Wizards of the West Open Game License.

The production features artificial smoke and has one 10-minute intermission. It is not recommended for audience members under the age of 16.
