Seventh-grade girls invited to experience Woodlands
Girls in seventh grade from schools throughout the area are invited to a special Shadow Day at Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 12. This free event will explore all things that make up a Woodlands Academy education.
From academics to arts, goûter to global education, school spirit to spirituality, participants will get a sampling of what sets the school apart.
Woodlands Academy has again been named Illinois' Best All-Girls High School by independent research firm Niche in its 2020 rankings, and is also the state's top all-girls school in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, according to a study released in November 2019 by Newsweek.
The magazine partnered with STEM.org to identify America's 5,000 best STEM high schools. Woodlands ranked among the top 1,000 schools, both public and private.
Located at 760 E. Westleigh Road in Lake Forest, Woodlands Academy is an independent, Catholic, day-and-boarding, college-preparatory school for young women of all faiths in grades nine through 12. It's part of a worldwide network of 24 schools in the U.S. and Canada and more than 150 schools in a total of 41 countries on six continents.

Lunch is included for all seventh-grade participants in this event, and those not familiar with goûter will learn about this food-centered Sacred Heart tradition.
