Bobby Jo Valentine to perform Feb. 23 at Elgin church

On Sunday, Feb. 23, First Congregational United Church of Christ, 256 E. Chicago St. in Elgin, will host a concert by singer-songwriter Bobby Jo Valentine at 3 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door.

Valentine is a multifaceted artist from Northern California. His songs are both earthy and mystical, contemporary and contemplative, and they speak to the everyday awakenings of an openhearted spirituality.

He has given a TED Talk in 2018, has been awarded Song of the Year three times by the West Coast Songwriter's Association, and is an out gay advocate for equal rights for all.

Join the congregation for an afternoon of poetic music and storytelling.

His most recent collections, "Fox Eyes," "Whale Heart" and "Maybe Stars," are available everywhere music is offered online.
