Community Crisis Center gala set for March 14

The Gretchen S. Vapnar Community Crisis Center will present the 33rd annual Spring Gala & Auction on Saturday, March 14, at the Q Center in St. Charles. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with hundreds of items featured on the silent auction, followed by a brief program, entertainment, and dinner.

Auctioneer Terry Dunning will conduct the live auction which features a South African safari, a guided canoe trip on the Fox River, autographed items from sports celebrities, including the Chicago Blackhawks; children's items; dining certificates; and many special opportunities, items and services.

The Seigle Family Foundation and FluidPay.com are the Gold Sponsors for the event. K.R. Miller Contractors and the EFS Foundation are Silver Sponsors.

The auction is the major fundraiser for the Crisis Center which, since 1975, has been meeting the needs of individuals and families experiencing crises related to domestic violence, sexual assault, economic need and homelessness. Services are available 24 hours a day at no cost to victims. In addition, the center houses 40 women and their children each night.

Those interested in donating to or attending the event may contact the Center.

Reservations at $100 per person are required; seating is limited. First-time attendees receive a $20 discount and may attend for $80 a person. Raffle tickets for cash prizes ($2,020 first prize and $500 second prize) are now being sold by staff and volunteers and will be sold at the event; winners need not be present.
