Get Into the Spirit of St. Paddy's Day with the Whiskey Brothers!

Are you ready to get into the spirit of St. Paddy's Day?

The Whiskey Brothers, Chicago's premier Irish band, will help get you into that spirit when they perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, in Arlington Heights.

This year's show will also feature a professional storyteller and Irish dancers from the Dillon-Gavin School of Irish Dance. Since 1995, the school has been introducing girls and boys to the art of Irish Dance.

"It will be a toe-tapping good time," said David Marcotte. "It's a wonderful Irish experience to help close down winter and welcome spring. You'll get fun facts about Irish history, the different types of Irish music we play and our many instruments."

The Whiskey Brothers, a unique 5-member band that was founded in 2001, are sure to entertain the entire family. The band plays a variety of songs, including traditional jigs and reels, beautiful Irish ballads, American music with an Irish flair and much more.

The Whiskey Brothers are different from other Irish bands, because they do not have a drum set or bass guitar that makes up their rhythm section. Instead, Marcotte plays Irish folk percussion, such as the Bodhran (Irish frame drum), spoons, washboard and more.

"Story and music go together like Guinness in a glass," said Megan Wells, a professional storyteller who will be a part of this year's show. "One fills the other! We'll most likely pop in three or four stories as the concert unfolds."

For 25 years, Wells has been touring nationally as a storyteller, actress and a historical impersonator. Wells has received national awards including the highest award from the National Storytelling Network for excellence as a Master Storyteller.

"Our lives are full and we need to take time to hear music of the heart, music of hope, and music that makes you tap your feet and clap," shared Wells.

"Our dancers enjoy bringing excellent performances to the Chicagoland area during the St. Patrick's Day season and throughout the year," according to the Dillon-Gavin School of Irish Dance.
