Join Elgin Bike Hub's 'Hot Chocolate Ride' Feb. 16

The Elgin Bike Hub will host its monthly "Hot Chocolate Ride" from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at Arabica Cafe, 59 Douglas Ave., Elgin.

Join them for this cold season slow roll! They will start and end outside Arabica Cafe. You'll have the opportunity to buy a warm beverage after the ride. They will ride for about 5 miles at a family friendly pace.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, for Mardi Gras, the club will host a "Paczki Ride" from noon to 1 p.m. starting at Advocate Park, 179 E. Chicago St. in Elgin.

Join a fun lunch break slow roll to Herb's Bakery for some paczki. The group will start at Advocate Park downtown and make our way there and back, about 3 miles total. It is "strongly recommended" that you pre-order your packzi, but the club also put in an order that would pick up the first 10 riders.

The club's monthly "Full Moon Ride" begins at 9 p.m. March 10, at Advocate Park, 179 E. Chicago St. in Elgin. This will be a moderate pace ride for a few miles throughout the core neighborhoods of Elgin. Join us for this social night ride!

Reminder: Illinois State law requires bike riders to have a clear light on the front and a red reflector or a red light on the back for night time riding. That would be the minimum attempt for safety, so let's all be easy to see on the street.

The Bike Elgin Ride is scheduled for Sunday, March 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. It will start at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave. in Elgin. Join them for a slow roll as they explore Elgin by bike. Participants will ride low stress routes for 3-5 miles. Get to know your city and your neighbors! These rides are friendly for ages 8-80. They use a mix of off-street and on-street routes. Each rider will be responsible for their own behavior as a street user.

The Bike Elgin Ride series is evolving this year. March will be a slow roll for a short distance. The next months will feature new themes and they will be looking at new start locations.

Elgin Bike Hub is a nonprofit organization using bike riding to make Elgin a healthier, happier, and more equitable community.

All riders must sign the 2020 annual ride waiver at waiver.fr/p-SDLTu.
