Citizens' Climate Lobby leader to speak at Green Drinks McHenry Feb. 5

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, Green Drinks McHenry County will welcome Rick Knight, Citizens' Climate Lobby research coordinator and group leader for Illinois Brookfield and Illinois State co-coordinator for the past four years.

Green Drinks is a monthly forum on the first Wednesday at Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St. in Crystal Lake.

The event includes a talk and Q&A on environmental issues and an opportunity to network with other sustainably minded people and professionals. Social time is 5 p.m. and the talk begins at 5:45 p.m.

He will review the carbon pricing bills that are now making their way through Congress. He will discuss the specifics of each bill and their pros and cons, including revenue distribution, CO2 equivalency, exemptions and other provisions in the bills.

Knight is a professional chemical engineer and was in the field of energy and pollution control research before changing his major focus to working to pass federal climate legislation.

Green Drinks McHenry County is organized by an independent Green Drinks Committee made up of volunteers and is co-sponsored by the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and Duke's Alehouse and Kitchen.
