Volunteers needed for 51st annual Swedish Days Ride

The Fox Valley Bike & Ski Club's annual Swedish Days Ride returns for its 51st year on Sunday, June 28, at Kaneland High School, 47W326 Keslinger Road in Maple Park. This recreational bike tour features quiet, scenic, paved roads through rural Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties.

There are 25-, 50-, 62- or 100-mile routes, as well as 124 miles or the double metric century, which is great training for Ironman participants.

It includes looping routes with SAG (support and gear) support; bike repairs at start; rest stops at Kaneland High School and Harter Middle School with air-conditioned seating and indoor restrooms; a variety of beverages and food items, including ice cream and watermelon at the end. All leftovers donated to the Lazarus House in St. Charles.

Online registration will be opening soon and continue until Friday, June 26. Cost is $28 for single rider or $45 for family (1-2 adults, children under 18).

Proceeds benefit: Ride Illinois, The Illinois Prairie Path, Active Transportation Alliance, League of American Bicyclists, Rails to Trails, ARES, and The Bike Rack's Project Mobility.
