Elgin's First Congregational welcomes new minister

On Sunday, Jan. 19, First Congregational Church of Elgin welcomes its new senior minister, the Rev. Dr. Jesse Tanner, to its leadership at both the 8:15 and 10:15 a.m. services.

Rev. Tanner has a doctorate in comparative religion (Buddhism and Christianity) with additional degrees from Northwestern University, Unity Theological Seminary and the University of the West.

Rev. Tanner was called to First Congregational Church to "empower individuals and this community to respond to God's call for greater good and growth."

He will preach this Sunday on "Embracing New Beginnings." The senior minister and his wife, Khoa Ngo, are the parents of two children.

First Congregational Church is located at 256 East Chicago St. in downtown Elgin.
