Young Northfield Singer and Actress, Jaiden Hsu, To Perform Winning Solo from Walgreens National Concerto Competition

Eleven-year-old Jaiden Hsu, of Northfield, IL will perform her winning solo at the upcoming "Walgreens Winners Recital" at 5 p.m. on January 19 at Bennett Gordon Hall at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL. This concert is free and open to the public.

Jaiden is the First Place winner in the Vocal category in the Junior MYAC Division of the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, hosted by Midwest Young Artists Conservatory. The Walgreens National Concerto Competition is held annually at the end of December and is generously sponsored by Walgreens.

Jaiden competed with over 200 young musicians from across the U.S. in categories ranging from strings, piano, voice, winds, brass, and percussion. She is currently a member of MYAC's Voices Rising choral ensemble, directed by Mrs. Stevi Marks.

Jaiden Hsu is an eleven-year-old singer and actor from the Chicago area. She studies voice under Barbara Martin at the Music Institute of Chicago and has been an Artists of Tomorrow Merit Scholar and Student Ambassador at the Institute since 2017. Jaiden has sung with the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory's Voices Rising since 2018. She has been singing in voice competitions for two years and has received two gold medals in competitions hosted by the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Jaiden recently made her contemporary musical debut in a Philadelphia concert celebrating Pulitzer Prize- and Grammy Award-winning composer George Crumb's 90th birthday, where she was a guest vocalist performing in Crumb's iconic Ancient Voices of Children with the First Editions Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed in several musical theater productions, including Into the Woods (Writers Theater) and Meet Me in St. Louis (Edge of the Wood Theater). In addition, Jaiden is a commercial and film actor and has starred in several films, one of which was a 2019 official selection in the Chinese American Film Festival. Jaiden is proud to be represented by DDO Artists Agency Chicago.

About MYAC:

Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) is the largest youth music ensemble program in the midwest and was founded in 1993 by Dr. Allan Dennis.
