Medical officer for DuPage Co. Health Dept. named to state board of health

Gov. JB Pritzker has announced the appointment of Rashmi Chugh, M.D., M.P.H., Medical Officer at DuPage County Health Department, to the Illinois State Board of Health.

A graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, Chugh completed her residency in family medicine at AMITA Health Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and has served as medical officer at the health department since 2003.

DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin said, "Over the years, Dr. Chugh has worked with the board of health to provide the county board information on vital health issues facing our residents. This collaboration is critical in assuring DuPage County remains one of the healthiest in Illinois."

"This is great news for DuPage County and the residents of Illinois," said Sam Tornatore, DuPage County Board of Health president. "Dr. Chugh brings her vast knowledge and experience in public health to the State Board of Health."

Dr. Chugh is board certified in family medicine and earned a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health. She brings her background in family medicine, public health and organized medicine, to leadership roles with the DuPage County Medical Society, Illinois Academy of Family Physicians and EverThrive Illinois.

The Illinois State Board of Health assumes the leadership role in advising the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health in meeting the functions of needs assessment, statewide health objectives, policy development and assurance of access to necessary services. The members of the state board of health are appointed by the governor.
