On Saturday, Jan. 11, Bittersweet Golf Course will turn into a winter wonderland for Frosty Fest.

This free community event will help festivalgoers embrace winter by meeting a dog sled team, enjoying interactive ice demonstrations and sculptures, taking horse-drawn sleigh rides, sledding, playing festive winter games and relaxing by the fire with s'mores and hot cocoa.

Dress for the weather, as the event takes place outdoors starting at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. Limited activities will be inside the Bittersweet Clubhouse in addition to food and adult beverages for purchase.

Tips for the day:

• Parking: Street parking will not be permitted. Parking will be available at Woodland Middle School, 7000 W. Washington St., Gurnee. Shuttle buses will run frequently to and from the event.

• Be sure to dress appropriately to be outdoors. Don't forget hats, gloves, scarfs, boots and extra clothing layers to stay warm.

• Remember to bring cash to purchase additional food or drinks from the Clubhouse.

• Weather reminder: Should there be threat of rain or inclement snow, check the rainout line for updates. In addition, certain activities such as sledding (bring your own sled) and snowshoeing are subject to change based on weather conditions.
